Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals in the first week of May increased 18.87 percent from a year ago to 33,910, with most visitors still coming from India, data from the island’s tourism promotion office showed.
There were 10,620 visitors from India, making up 31.3 percent of total arrivals, followed by the UK with 2,676 which made up 7.9 percent of arrivals.
Arrivals from China were in third place, with 2,445 visitors making up 7.2 percent of the total.
With the European summer season starting, there were 1,573 visitors from France making up 4.6.
Total visitors so far this year are 930,794.
