Sri Lanka will develop its scenic coastal drive in Colombo from Kollupitiya to Mount Lavinia with its ‘Marine Nights: Awakening Colombo’ project, minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
“A project has been planned to develop the 7.4 km Marine Drive, from Kollupitiya Railway Station to Dehiwela, under the theme ‘Marine Nights: Awakening Colombo’,” Jayatissa told reporters.
The project is aimed at enhancing the local economy, boosting the tourism industry and enhancing the tourist experience in Colombo city through increased night-time tourism activities, he said.
“The focus will be mostly on an area of about 400 meters from the edge of Galle Face to St. Thomas’ Primary School.”
The support of hoteliers and businesses in the area will be obtained, he said.
