The historic Ehelepola Walauwa in Kandy is set to become Sri Lanka’s most iconic wax museum, offering a unique glimpse into the island’s royal history for both local and international visitors.
The Walauwa has undergone meticulous restoration under the guidance of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Maligawa.
In celebration of this momentous occasion, a two-day Pirith chanting and Alms-Giving Ceremony was held on June 30 and July 1. The ceremonies, led by the Diyawadana Nilame, honored the first Ehelepola Adhikaram and his family, alongside all those who played a key role in this remarkable restoration effort.
The official opening date of the wax museum is expected to be announced soon, promising a major cultural attraction for all who visit Kandy.
