Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Surpass 1.6 Million in 2025

Sri Lanka has welcomed over 1.6 million tourists so far in 2025, according to the latest data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). As of 7 September, a total of 1,604,018 foreign visitors have arrived in the country.

In the first seven days of September alone, 37,495 tourists were recorded. India continues to lead as the top source market, contributing 10,171 arrivals (27.1%) during this period. The United Kingdom followed with 3,033 visitors, while 2,426 tourists from Germany, 1,806 from Australia, and 1,803 from China also visited during the month.

For the year to date, 335,766 Indian nationals have travelled to Sri Lanka, making India the largest contributor to arrivals in 2025. The United Kingdom accounts for 154,174 arrivals, while 119,592 tourists from Russia have also visited.
