City of Dreams Sri Lanka is hosting a Signature Glam event and has invited two personalities from the Indian scene to attend.

Shweta Sharda, Miss Universe India 2023, will attend the resort on 19 September to give a live performance on stage.

Fans will also be able to attend an exclusive meet-and-greet and participate in VIP photo opportunities with her.

Arjun Rampal, one of India’s most celebrated actors, will join the resort on the second day of the event, 20 September.

He has starred in over 40 films and has received several awards for his performances, with some of his most notable works including Rock On!!, Don, Om Shanti Om, and Raajneeti.

Rampal will also take part in a meet-and-greet, with City of Dreams Sri Lanka also granting him a “spotlight moment designed to celebrate his enduring impact on South Asian pop culture”, according to a spokesperson for the resort.

Good to know: Of course, this comes after Melco Chairman and CEO was quoted as saying “Sri Lanka can be to India what Macau is to China”

This is part of an initiative to attract visitors from India, with City of Dreams noting “high-net-worth individuals”, “regional influencers” and “experience-driven millennials” are some of their key demographics.

According to the City of Dreams Sri Lanka website, the celebrity appearances will take place “exclusively” at the casino section of the resort.

This development is all the more notable, considering India’s recent crackdown on real money online gambling, which has seen many people lose access to casinos within the country.
