Sri Lanka Tourism, in collaboration with Crusader Sports & Leisure Tours, welcomed two groups of young cricketers from the UK, totaling 86 members, arriving on 12th and 14th December 2025. Each delegation consists of five groups, with the first arriving on 12th December at Bandaranaike International Airport, greeted with a vibrant cultural dance performance and souvenirs from Sri Lanka Tourism, leaving a lasting impression of the island’s hospitality.
This initiative highlights Sri Lanka as a safe and welcoming travel destination, while also promoting sports tourism. A netball team of 17 members joined the group, bringing the total to 103 visitors. During their stay, the young athletes will play matches with local schools in Colombo, Galle, and Kurunegala, as well as participate in cultural and wildlife experiences. Their itinerary includes visits to the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe, safari drives at Udawalawe National Park, whale watching in Mirissa, the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, and witnessing the sunrise from Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
These activities not only provide memorable experiences for the visitors but also encourage them to share their positive experiences with friends and family back home, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s reputation as a paradise island. The second delegation is scheduled to arrive on 14th December 2025.
