Sri Lanka is aiming to welcome three million tourists in 2026, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament today.
Responding to a question raised by MP Thilna Samaraweera, the Prime Minister said the country recorded its highest-ever tourist arrivals in 2025, with 2,362,521 visitors, surpassing the previous record of 2,333,796 arrivals achieved in 2018.
She further noted that tourism generated USD 3.2 billion in revenue in 2025, highlighting the sector’s strong recovery and its growing contribution to the national economy.
The government expects continued growth in tourism, supported by strategic promotions, improved connectivity, and enhanced visitor experiences across the country.
