South Asian lifestyle hospitality brand Otherland Hotels is set to make its international debut in Sri Lanka with the launch of “Otherland Galle,” a new oceanfront lifestyle hotel scheduled to open in June 2026 in the southern coastal city of Galle.

The project was officially featured by Travel And Tour World, highlighting the growing international interest in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Founded in Bengaluru, India in 2023 by entrepreneurs Rishi Sreedharan and Samarth Gowda, Otherland Hotels is expanding beyond India for the first time with its Sri Lankan venture. The company said Sri Lanka was selected due to its fast-growing tourism appeal, vibrant surf culture, heritage attractions, and increasing demand for lifestyle-focused travel experiences.

Located close to the historic Galle Fort, the upcoming property will feature 66 oceanfront rooms and suites designed around modern lifestyle hospitality concepts. The hotel aims to combine Sri Lanka’s coastal atmosphere with social experiences, creative spaces, wellness offerings, music culture, and community-driven travel.

According to the brand, Otherland Galle will include rooftop dining venues, curated food and beverage experiences, wellness spaces, surf-related activities, live entertainment, and collaborative social events targeted at younger global travelers and digital nomads seeking immersive travel experiences.

The company described the hotel not simply as a traditional accommodation project, but as a “cultural and social destination” focused on connection, creativity, and local experiences.

The launch also reflects the growing popularity of Sri Lanka’s southern coastline among international travelers. Areas including Galle, Ahangama, Weligama, and Mirissa have increasingly become major tourism hotspots known for surfing, boutique hotels, wellness tourism, beach culture, and heritage tourism.

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry continues to attract new foreign investment as visitor arrivals steadily recover and global travel brands expand operations across the island. Industry observers note that lifestyle hospitality concepts are becoming increasingly popular among travelers seeking authentic and experience-driven stays rather than conventional hotel experiences.

Otherland Hotels stated that the Galle property is expected to become a key part of its regional expansion strategy as the company explores further growth opportunities across Asia.

The hotel is scheduled to officially open in June 2026.
