The official global index, published by the renowned international travel publication Travel And Tour World (TTW), celebrates the island’s rich food heritage alongside some of the most iconic culinary giants on the planet. According to the 2026 editorial rankings, Mexico claimed the number-one spot as the world’s finest culinary destination, with Italy and Spain taking second and third places respectively, while Sri Lanka proudly locked in the 50th position.
The selection process evaluated nations based on rigorous parameters that shape the modern traveler’s journey. Travel And Tour World stated that the final index was compiled by analyzing cultural food heritage, regional diversity, dynamic street food cultures, and the clever utilization of local, indigenous ingredients.
