The sudden breakdown in the computer system of the Department of Immigration and Emigration that occurred this morning has been restored, officials confirmed.
Department spokesman Mahesh Karunadasa said the system, which had experienced a technical fault earlier in the day, has now returned to normal operations.
The disruption had temporarily affected the issuance of foreign passports during the morning hours, causing delays for applicants.
Authorities assured that services are functioning smoothly again following the restoration.
