Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism Vijitha Herath will undertake an official visit to Thailand from 14 to 16 September 2026, at the invitation of the Minister of Labour of Thailand.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, during the visit, Minister Herath will hold high-level discussions with Thailand’s Minister of Tourism, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Labour, with a strong emphasis on advancing bilateral cooperation in tourism promotion and mutual areas of interest.
The Ministry confirmed that this visit will provide a significant opportunity to advance practical cooperation in tourism exchange, boost bilateral travel mobility, deepen people-to-people connections, and enhance overall economic engagement between Sri Lanka and Thailand. Alongside tourism development, the two sides will also strengthen labour relations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Labour Cooperation and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the employment of Sri Lankan workers in Thailand.
