Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) is set to welcome increased traffic this winter, with RedWings, SkyUp and Belavia from Belarus planning operations.
Industry sources report that strong tourist demand has pushed Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to capacity, preventing additional frequencies for some airlines. As a result, several charter carriers have scheduled flights to Mattala instead.
