Otherland Hotels is set to open Otherland Galle in June 2026, marking its first international property. Located near Galle Fort on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, the 66-key hotel will be positioned within a destination known for its surf culture and evolving tourism landscape.

Founded in 2023 in Bengaluru by Rishi Sreedharan and Samarth Gowda, the brand builds on their earlier work in co-living. Otherland Hotels focuses on a lifestyle-led hospitality approach shaped around experience, design, and local context.

Rishi Sreedharan, Founder and CEO, said the brand aims to develop properties that reflect the character of each destination while responding to the expectations of contemporary travellers. He noted that Galle offers a setting aligned with the brand’s direction, supported by its mix of culture, tourism activity, and creative communities.

The project is being developed in collaboration with Emanuel Sidhartha, who joins as Co-Founder and brings local market insight to the development.

The brand’s operating framework is built around four elements: experience-led stays, functional guest rooms, service driven by local engagement, and distinct food and beverage concepts. Otherland Galle will be the first in a planned pipeline of hotels, restaurants, and beach clubs across South Asia.

Samarth Gowda, Co-Founder and COO, said the choice of Galle reflects the brand’s intention to build within the region while focusing on destinations that offer a strong sense of place. He added that the aim is to create properties that connect with their surroundings rather than follow a standardized model.

With additional projects under development, Otherland Hotels is expanding its presence across South Asia through a portfolio shaped by local partnerships and destination-led concepts.
