Udawalawa and Yala National Parks, two of Sri Lanka’s renowned wild life sanctuaries, are poised to temporarily close their doors to tourists due to persistent dry weather conditions.

Although a final verdict is pending, recommendations have been tabled to initiate a temporary closure for both Udawalawa and Yala National parks as disclosed by an official from the Department of Wildlife to ‘The Morning’.

According to him, the proposed action seeks to safeguard the fragile ecosystems and diverse wildlife that inhabit the national parks during the prolonged dry spell.
