In a move to strengthen its commitment to the global travel sector, Uber has officially rejoined the Executive Committee of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), it was announced on June 22, 2026. This appointment marks Uber’s return to the organization following its previous tenure as a Global Member from 2018 to 2021.
As a core member of the travel ecosystem, Uber’s role will focus on driving global agendas related to sustainability, digital innovation, and seamless passenger mobility. Uber, which currently operates in over 15,000 cities across 70+ countries, is increasingly positioning itself as a vital travel utility, evidenced by its recent partnership with Expedia Group to integrate hotel bookings directly into the Uber app.
“Travel is in Uber’s DNA,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. “For millions of people, Uber is one of the first apps they open when arriving in a new city. We are proud to collaborate with industry leaders to help shape the future of travel.”
WTTC President & CEO Gloria Guevara added that Uber’s return brings a “valuable perspective” to the council as it aims to build a more connected and sustainable future for global tourism.
